Comments: JCCC freshman C.J. Carter had his best effort as a collegiate player last week, pouring in 18 points in a three-point loss to No. 8 ranked Independence. Carter's effort, particularly in the second half, kept the Cavaliers close. Twelve of his 18 points came in the second half. The Cavaliers trailed by 10 points with 9:31 left to play when Carter hit two jumpers and a lay up in a two minute span to pull JCCC to within four points. The Pirates again built its lead to 10 with 44 seconds left, and appeared to have the game rapped up. But the Cavaliers hit three 3-point baskets in the final 39 seconds, two by Carter, setting up JCCC's final second attempt to send the game to overtime. Carter hit 8-of-11 shots, including a perfect 2-of-2 from 3-point range. He also had a team-high seven rebounds.

Comments: In the Saints only game last week, Tanner scored a game-high 16 points and tied a game-high eight rebounds against Hutchinson C.C. Tanner is leading the Saints in scoring this season averaging 15.0 points per game.
