Hounds name Reihmann new women’s basketball
coach
Fort Scott Community College and Greyhound Athletics are proud to announce that
Katie Reihmann has been selected as the next head women’s basketball coach at
FSCC.
Coach Reihmann enters her first season as Head Coach for the Greyhound women’s
basketball program after spending the past two seasons as the Assistant Coach
for the Greyhounds.
“The selection committee made a great choice with Coach Reihmann,” said J.D.
Ettore, Athletic Director at FSCC. “Katie proved to all of us that she has
a plan to take Greyhound women’s basketball in the right direction with clear
priorities for academics as well as on the court.”
Prior to coming to FSCC Coach Reihmann spent the 2009-10 season as the assistant
coach at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa. She assisted with
on-the-floor coaching, strength and conditioning, scouting/film breakdown,
recruiting, and other duties as assigned.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to be the head women’s basketball coach
at FSCC”, said Coach Reihmann. “I look forward to leading this program
both in the classroom and on the court.”
Coach Reihmann started her professional coaching career as an assistant coach
for the North Fayette High School girls’ basketball team and was the head junior
varsity coach for the 2007-08 seasons.
In regard to her playing career, Coach Reihmann spent two seasons playing for
Des Moines Area Community College - Boone Campus from 2003-05. During the
2004-05 season she was the Team Captain and earned accolades as a Second Team
All-Region selection. She set records for three point field goals made in
a season and three point field goal percentages in her career.
Coach Reihmann then transferred to play the 2005-2006 seasons at Ohio University
in Athens, OH. The following 2006-2007 season she returned home to finish her
career with Upper Iowa University in Fayette. At Upper Iowa, she was the team
captain and repeated her record leading the conference in 3-point field goals
per game. Reihmann credits the skills that she learned working with her
teammates on the court for her ability to be successful in her professional
career.
Reihmann graduated in May 2008 with her bachelor’s degree from Upper Iowa in
fitness/wellness. Then she received her Master’s in 2010 from Ohio University in
Recreation and Sports Science. Katie Reihmann will be entering her first season
as assistant coach for the Fort Scott Greyhound Women’s basketball program.
