Kate James, a freshman from Maize, Kan., assaulted
opposing pitchers this weekend at the Cowtown Classic in
Fort Worth, hitting .667 with 10 hits. Half of those
hits were home runs, including a game against Trinity
Valley in which she hit three consecutive home runs. She
also singled in that game, going 4-4 at the plate. For
the weekend, she scored nine runs and drove in nine runs
as Butler went 5-0. The 11th-ranked Grizzlies are now
9-0 on the season after two weekend tournaments in
Texas, and James has hit safely in all nine games.

Sophomore Carley Conley opened the season on a terror as
she went 13-for-24 with two home runs, five doubles and
14 runs batted in. She also walked twice and scored five
runs, while helping Independence win five of seven
games.

Sophomore transfer Maggie Ham went 2-0 with two complete
game in two appearances at the Cowtown Classic in Fort
Worth this weekend. On Friday, she beat Midland (TX) by
striking out 13 and allowing just one earned run on six
hits. On Saturday, facing a 9-2 North Central Texas
team, she struck out another 12 batters, allowing just
two runs. For the season, Ham is 4-0 with a combined 45
strikeouts in 24 innings of work

Sophomore transfer Keelyn Bonar won three games during
the week and also tossed 4 2/3 innings of scoreless
relief vs. Western Texas. She has not walked a batter in
her four appearances and has struck out 17 with a 1.51
earned run average.
