The 12th ranked NJCAA Neosho County wrestlers fought valantly this
weekend on the mat at the Abe Lemons arena on the campus of Oklahoma
City University against some very formidable foes in the 3rd and 10th
ranked teams in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics
(NAIA), and the 19th ranked team in NCAA Division 1.

While the team scores were lop sided in all three duals,our guys
wrestled and competed hard. We lost 6 matches by 3 points or less so we
were battling. This was an extremely tough opening meet with all highly
ranked teams in their respective divisions. Jeremy Lawley turned in the
best performance going 2-1 on the day and losing a close bout with the
OU starter.

Daunte Nixon and Ty Jaquess each scored official wins and competed hard.
We had some others get wins or very good matches against starters in
exhibition matches. Overall our freshman got a eye opening experience
before opening with Labette here on Thursday and we needed that. And,
now we have breakdowns of area's against opponents other than ourselves
that we can target to get better and improve. The University of Oklahoma
happend to hold both OCU and Missouri Valley scoreless, with NCCC being
the only team to break the Sooners shutout sweep.
