Ranked Battles Help Shape Latest NJCAA Men's Soccer Rankings For KJCCC Schools
NJCAA Division 1 Men's Soccer Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Men's Soccer Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – Battles between ranked teams last week have led to changes for Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference teams in the latest NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 men’s soccer top 20 polls, as the conference has six teams either ranked or receiving votes in the latest rankings released on Monday, September 22nd.
For the second-straight week, three KJCCC teams ranked in the NJCAA Division 1 poll, along with two ranked teams and a third receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division 2 poll.
One of the biggest movers of the week, Dodge City has put itself on the cusp of a top-10 ranking after knocking off previously number six-ranked Barton Community College by a score of 2-1 on Sunday to remain unbeaten and move up five spots to number 12 in the latest rankings. Barton, meanwhile, falls three spots down to number nine as both the Conquistadors and Cougars remain behind the highest-ranked KJCCC D1 men’s soccer team in Cowley College, which has been ranked number four for every poll released this season.
Within the NJCAA Division 2 men’s soccer top 20 poll, Neosho County solidified its number four ranking after picking up shutout wins over previously number nine-ranked Johnson County and Southeast Community College to improve to 6-0-2 this season. Johnson County sees their road loss to Neosho result in a three-spot drop down to number 12 despite bouncing back with a 1-0 win over Pratt to conclude their week, while surging Kansas City Kansas Community College has made their way into a list of three teams receiving votes as the Blue Devils have won five-straight matches to improve to 5-2-0 this season.
This week’s schedule will see ranked battles take place throughout the week, with a pair of ranked matchups taking place on Wednesday evening, followed by two more ranked matchups on Saturday. Wednesday’s schedule will be highlighted by D2 number four Neosho County heading to KCKCC for a 7:30 PM matchup alongside a top 10 battle in D1 play when number four Cowley hosts number nine Barton in Arkansas City. Saturday sets up to be another day that could go a long way in helping shape the conference standings as D1 number four Cowley will host number 12 Dodge City for a 4:30 PM kickoff, while D2 number 12 Johnson County will play host to KCKCC at 7:30 PM in Overland Park.
