2017 KJCCC D2 Softball Players of the Week, Week 6
Johnson County sophomore pitcher Megan Deiter finished 3-1 on the week as she hurled a pair of two-hitters, a three-hitter and struck out 35 batters in 20 2/3 innings of work. Deiter opened the week by allowing one run off two hits and 11 strikeouts in a 10-1 win over St. Charles. She followed by allowing just three hits and three runs with seven strikeouts in a 3-1 road loss to Cowley, and capped the week with a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts in a 10-0 win at Independence, followed by a win in relief in the second game against the Pirates. She was called on to pitch the final 4 2/3 innings, and allowed just one hit and struck out seven to pick up the victory.
Brianna Fuchs helped the No. 16-ranked Cowley College softball team open conference play with six straight wins by going 13-of-20 with one home run and 10 RBIs. She also scored eight runs and stole four bases. Fuchs had multiple hits in four of the Lady Tigers' six victories.
