Johnson County's Layla Scott Named NJCAA Division 2 Women's Basketball Player of the Week
CHARLOTTE, NC – Helping the Johnson County Community College women’s basketball team secure a sixth-straight Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference regular season crown with her first career triple-double, Cavalier guard Layla Scott has been named NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Playing in her final two home games of her career, Layla Scott helped lead number one Johnson County to a pair of double-digit conference victories last week and secure the program’s sixth straight KJCCC Division 2 title and 13th championship overall. The sophomore finished with 15 points, five rebounds, and three assists in an 81-44 mid-week win over Fort Scott before securing the ninth triple-double in program history as part of Saturday’s 95-53 victory over number 25 Neosho County on Sophomore Day.- Scott's first collegiate triple-double came on an impressive line of 27 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists while connecting on five three-point baskets among her eight total field goals in addition to going six-for-six at the free throw line. This season, Scott leads the conference scoring average (17.6), total points (511), made three-point field goals (102), three-point field goal percentage (41.1%), assists (116), and ranks second in steals (66) and blocked shots (17).
