NJCAA Releases Preseason Women's Basketball Polls, 6 KJCCC Teams Ranked
NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Preseason Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball Preseason Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – Led by NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball defending National Champion Johnson County Community College, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has six women’s basketball programs representing the conference in the NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 women’s basketball preseason top 25 polls released on Monday, October 20th.
Both the NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 women’s basketball preseason poll has three representatives from the KJCCC, with three of the six teams holding rankings inside the top 10 of their respective polls. Three of the teams were qualifiers for their respective NJCAA Women’s tournaments last year, while five of the six advanced to the NJCAA Region 6 Tournament semifinal round in 2024-25.
In addition to top-ranked Johnson County in the preseason Division 2 women’s basketball top 25 poll, Allen Community College holds a top-10 ranking after finishing as NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Women’s Basketball Tournament runners-up last year and finishing the season with a 21-5 overall record, which included a 10-4 mark in the KJCCC. The Red Devils are ranked number nine after receiving 153 total points, while Neosho County Community College received 90 points to hold the number 16 ranking following last year’s 19-8 overall record and 10-4 mark in the KJCCC after finishing as one of three teams to tie for second in the final conference standings.
Leading the way in the NJCAA Division 1 women’s basketball preseason poll for the KJCCC is number four-ranked Dodge City Community College after the Conquistadors tied for KJCCC Division 1 women’s basketball regular season title last year and won the NJCAA Region 6 Division 1 women’s basketball tournament title before advancing to the semifinal round of the 2025 NJCAA D1 Women’s Basketball National Tournament. The Conquistadors went 31-5 overall and are joined in the preseason rankings by number 13-ranked Hutchinson and number 19-ranked Butler, both of which played in the 2025 NJCAA Region 6 D1 women’s basketball tournament semifinals last year. The Blue Dragons received an at-large bid to the National Tournament last year, going 1-1 with a win over South Georgia Technical College before falling 50-48 to Three Rivers Community College to finish the year 29-5 overall.
The NJCAA Women’s Basketball Week 1 polls will be released on Monday, November 10th as the regular season will get underway on Friday, October 31st. Polls will then be released weekly on Monday afternoons (Tuesday afternoons on weeks with National holidays on Mondays) through December 15th before starting up again on January 5th and running through the end of February.
