Hutchinson Sweeps First NJCAA Division 1 Cross Country Runner of the Week Awards In 2025
CHARLOTTE, NC – Winners of the individual titles at the 2025 Terry Masterson Twilight Meet last Friday, Hutchinson Community College cross country runners Mildred Rono and Cornelius Kogo both added national accolades on Wednesday (September 3rd) afternoon by being named NJCAA Division 1 Cross Country Runners of the Week.
Mildred Rono (Hutchinson) – KJCCC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Hutchinson Community College freshman Mildred Rono set two meet/course records in winning the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic in the 2025 season opener for the number 15-ranked Blue Dragon women. Rono smashed the course record with a time of 16:55.33, blitzing the old record by 39.12 seconds. She is the first runner to break 17 minutes at the Masterson Twilight. Her winning margin of 55.30 seconds is also a meet record.
Cornelius Kogo (Hutchinson) – KJCCC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Hutchinson Community College sophomore Cornelius Kogo earned his first career collegiate win in leading the number four-ranked Blue Dragon men to a team championship at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic. Kogo led four-straight Blue Dragons to cross the finish line with a winning time of 20:04.10, the 13th-fastest time in Masterson Twilight history.
