CHARLOTTE, NC – For the third time this season, Hutchinson Community College women’s cross country runner Mildred Rono has been named the NJCAA D1 Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Hutchinson freshman Mildred Rono became the second-straight Blue Dragon women's cross country runner to capture the Region 6 championship.  Rono was running in a tightly-knit lead pack of five runners through three kilometers. With two kilometers to go, Rono broke away from the pack and was never challenged again. Posting a time of 17:10.69, Rono won the race by 45.80 seconds. Rono's time was the second-fastest Region 6 time in Blue Dragon history. The win was Rono's third of her freshman season.
