2017 KJCCC Baseball Players of the Week, Week 6
Jarrett Seaton recorded two wins this past week, working thirteen innings in striking out ten with zero walks. Pitching a complete game shutout on Monday, the Nebraska freshman sent down six batters on strikeouts commanding the zone with fifteen first pitch strikes against twenty-three batters faced. Six days later Seaton picked up his second victory of the week with a six inning, four strikeout performance against conference leading Dodge City improving to 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in Jayhawk conference play.
Sophomore Mason Knopp pitched 10 innings of shutout baseball against Colwey College. Knopp came in relief on Thursdays game two win against the tigers. Knopp then started game 1 in Arkansas City on Saturday. Knopp went nine scoreless innings, giving up only five hits, and striking out seven.
Sophomore second baseman Michael Helman continued his season-long tear in eight games last week going 16 for 30 (.533) with a .611 on-base percentage and 1.000 slugging percentage. Helman hit safely in all eight games and broke Hutchinson's hit-streak record, which now stands at 25 consecutive games with a hit. Helman had eight extra base hits (5 doubles, 3 home runs). He is now hitting a robust .529 with 54 hits, 12 home runs, 33 RBIs and 18 stolen bases. Against Cloud County on Sunday in No. 12 Hutch's 10-2 win, Helman stole home.
