All-KJCCC Baseball Selections Announced
(KJCCC) BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference announced its annual baseball awards for the East and West Divisions today. The East Division consists of 57 student-athletes, and West Division 41 student-athletes earning honors. Both divisions have a first-team, second-team and honorable mention team.

In the East Division, Cowley sophomore outfielder Ty Hammack was named the Player of the Year. Johnson County sophomore left-hander Luc Fladda earned Pitcher of the Year. The Freshman of the Year award went to Coffeyville second baseman Carson Schrack and Johnson County designated hitter Dagen Brewer and Eric Horner of Johnson County was chosen the Coach of the Year.
In the West Division, Hutchinson sophomore outfielder Will Edmundson was named the Player of the Year. Butler sophomore right-hander Izack Tiger earned Pitcher of the Year. Freshman of the Year went to Seward County shortstop Cameron Cartwright and Brent Biggs of Barton was chosen Coach of the Year.
Ty Hammack, Cowley – KJCCC East Division MVP
Ty Hammack put together an impressive offense campaign for Cowley this season. He batted a team-best .379 (869-for-235) with 20 doubles, four triples, 17 home runs, 72 runs and 72 RBI. He is fourth in the conference in RBI and tied for fourth home runs and tied for fifth in doubles. He produced 28 multiple-hit and 21 multiple-RBI games Hammack was selected the East Player of the Week in week 14 after going 9-for-13 with three homers and 12 RBI in a series win over Fort Scott.
Will Edmundson, Hutchinson – KJCCC West Division MVP
Will Edmundson had a monster season for Hutchinson, batting .454 (93-for-205) with 18 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, 78 runs and 51 RBI. He led the conference in hits and average and was second in runs scored, tied for 10th in doubles and tied for ninth in triples. He produced 34 multiple-hit game, including a five-hit performance in the second game of the season. He opened the season with 16-game hitting streak, and he also had 10-game and nine-game streaks. He also has 16 multiple-RBI games. He was twice honored as the West Player of the Week, earning the honor in week two and four.
Luc Fladda, Johnson County – KJCCC East Division Pitcher of the Year
Luc Fladda, a University of Oklahoma transfer, has proven to be a big addition to the Johnson County pitching staff this season. He has started 16 games, going 12-0 with six complete game victories. He has struck out 104 batters in 96.0 innings of work and a league leading ERA of 2.63. Fladda leads the conference in innings pitched, and ranks third in victories . In the second week of the season, Fladda was chosen the East Pitcher of the Week after hurling a gem against No. 5 ranked Crowder. He did not allow hit or a run and struck out 11 over his six innings of work. He earned the honor again in week eight.
Izack Tiger, Butler – KJCCC West Division Pitcher of the Year
The conference's leader in strikeouts this season, Izack Tiger mowed down 121 batters in 84.2 innings pitched, good for a league-leading 12.86 strikeout/9 ratio. He finished 10-5 on the season with six complete games and an ERA of 43.94, which ranks 10th-best in the conference. Tiger recently was named the West Pitcher of the Week in week 12 after a dominant start against Colby. The Grizzlies ace threw a complete game in the 13-0 shutout victory, facing 23 batters giving up only two hits with eight strikeouts. For his career, Tiger 2655 strikeouts.
Carson Schrack, Coffeyville & Dagen Brewer, Johnson County – KJCCC East Division Co-Freshmen of the Year
Carson Schrack hit at a team-best .404 clip (84-for-208) with 22 doubles, four triples, five home runs, 58 runs scored and 55 driven in. He ranks second in the in conference in doubles, third in hits and tied for ninth in batting average. Schrack has produced 28 multiple-hit and 15 multiple-RBI games. He got his season off to tremendous start, hitting for a cycle with five RBI in his season opener against Arkansas State. That started a string of nine straight multi-hit games.
Dagen Brewer is one of Johnson County's top hitters this season with a .406 average (58-for-143). He has 12 doubles, a triple, 10 home runs, 39 runs and 56 RBI. Brewer has produced 20 multiple-hit and 16 multiple-RBI games highlighted by a two home run, five RBI effort in a win at Neosho County April 13.
Cameron Cartwright, Seward County – KJCCC West Division Freshman of the Year
Cameron Cartwright is batting a .374 clip (65-for-174) with 10 doubles, a triple, 17 home runs, 59 runs and 46 RBI. His 17 homers tie for fourth in the conference. He also has produced 20 multiple-hit games, including a five hit, three-home run, five RBI performance against Colby on April 14. In five of his 20 multi-hit games, hit belted multiple-home runs. He also has 12 multiple-RBI games. Cartwright drove in six runs with a pair of homers against Redlands March 4, and had a two-homer, five RBI day at Lamar March 28. POW Week 11
Eric Horner, Johnson County – KJCCC East Division Coach of the Year
In just his third season as the Cavaliers skipper, Eric Horner is rewriting the Johnson County record books. This season, Horner help guide JCCC to the East Division title outright with a 29-3 mark and a Region 6/Plains District championship, punching the Cavaliers ticket to the NJCAA World Series. Overall, the Cavaliers are 55-8 and ranked second in the final NJCAA Poll. They produced 49 regular season wins, which is a new record, and their 55 total wins also are new high mark in team history. Through three campaigns, Horner has tallied 144 wins, more than any previous JCCC coach over that span.
Brent Biggs, Barton – KJCCC West Division Coach of the Year
Barton Head Coach Brent Biggs has been tabbed the Jayhawk West Division Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season and the third time in his career after guiding the Cougars to their second straight Jayhawk West title. Setting a program-best record of 51-10, Biggs and the Cougars surpassed the 40 wins mark for the fourth time in his nine seasons at the helm while concluding the regular season ranked No. 6 nationally.
