KJCCC Baseball East Division Players of the Week - Week 8
COLBY, Kan. – Following a four-game sweep over division foe Labette Community College, the Johnson County Community College baseball team has swept this week’s Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference East Division Baseball Player of the Week honors with infielder Colin Coonradt and pitcher Liam Roche sweeping honors for the second time in the past three weeks.
Colin Coonradt – Johnson County (KJCCC Baseball East Division Player of the Week)
Colin Coonradt posted an impressive slash line of .500/.611/1.571 while leading the top-ranked Cavaliers to a four-game conference sweep over Labette. The freshman first baseman was seven-for-14 at the plate with five home runs, nine runs scored, four walks, and 11 RBI. Coonradt hit a homer in all four games and capped the series with two bombs in the final game. His five home run series increased his season total to 18, the most in the KJCCC and second most in NJCAA Division 1 baseball.
Liam Roche – Johnson County (KJCCC Baseball East Division Pitcher of the Week)
Liam Roche improved to 6-0 on the season after helping Johnson County to a 13-3, six-inning win in the opening game of a four-game sweep over Labette. The left-hander surrendered five hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings, with 11 strikeouts. It is the second time this season that Roche has recorded at least 10 strikeouts in a game. Roche currently leads the conference in strikeouts with 63, is tied for second in victories, and fourth in ERA (2.80).
