KJCCC Baseball West Division Players of the Week - Week 10
COLBY, Kan. – After helping lead their teams to series wins over Hutchinson and Dodge City, Barton Community College utility player Kyler Horsman and Cloud County Community College pitcher Cohen Nelson have each earned their first Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Division Baseball Player of the Week honors in 2026.
Kyler Horsman – Barton (KJCCC Baseball West Division Player of the Week)
Kyler Horsman turned in a dominant four-game series against Dodge City, batting .750 (12-for-16) with 11 RBI and six runs scored. Horsman recorded multiple hits in all four games, tallying six extra-base hits, including three doubles, a triple, and two home runs, while posting a 1.438 slugging percentage. The redshirt sophomore drove in three RBI in three of the four contests, highlighted by a four-for-five performance with two doubles and a home run in the series opener. Horsman also earned the win on the mound in the series finale, tossing six innings, allowing just two runs to cap his week.
Cohen Nelson – Cloud County (KJCCC Baseball West Division Pitcher of the Week)
Cloud County sophomore left-hander Cohen Nelson held number 12 Hutchinson in check as the fourth-ranked T-Birds defeated the Blue Dragons 6-2 in a KJCCC road game on Saturday. Nelson, making his fifth start, gave up one run on one hit over 5.2 innings, improving his record to 2-0. Nelson struck out a career-high 11 and now has 25 strikeouts in three conference starts this season.
