Three KJCCC Schools Hold Top 10 Rankings In Week Four NJCAA D1 Baseball Top 25 Poll
NJCAA Division 1 Baseball Week 4 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – Led by the newest number one team in the latest NJCAA Division 1 Baseball top 25 poll, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has four ranked teams included three in the top 10 of the week four poll released by the NJCAA national office on Monday, March 16th.
After having two teams ranked in the top three last week, the KJCCC added another top 10 team to list following a big move up the rankings from Hutchinson Community College to give the conference three top 10 teams and the only NJCAA Region in NJCAA Division 1 baseball to have three top 10 teams this week.
Sweeping another four-game conference series in KJCCC East Division play, Johnson County edged out last week’s number one team Chipola College after receiving 197 total points and six of 10 first-place votes after scoring 12 or more runs in all four games and winning three games by run-rule of their series with Coffeyville. The Cavaliers are now 26-2 overall this season and have won 10 straight games. Also ranked in the top 10, Cloud County is ranked number six after winning their weekend series with Garden City to improve to 22-2 overall while Hutchinson is ranked number 10 and up six spots from last week after sweeping Dodge City in a four-game series to extend their winning streak to 11 straight games and improve to 23-3 overall. The Blue Dragons have won 17 of their 23 games at home, to go along with four conference road wins and two neutral-site victories. The last loss for HCC came on February 26th when Hutchinson dropped a pair of one-run contests to Coffeyville as all three defeats have come by one run this year. Back into the top 25 following a one-week hiatus is Barton Community College at number 24 after sweeping Pratt Community College in a four-game series to improve to 19-5 overall.
This week’s action starts on Monday afternoon when Seward County hosts McCook Community College before seeing nine different conference schools in action on Tuesday, including cross division matchups between Hutchinson and Cowley along with Butler and Neosho County. Hutchinson will then be the lone conference team in action on Wednesday with a road doubleheader at Rose State College before seeing eight conference doubleheaders take place on Thursday to begin week three of conference action. A home doubleheader for Fort Scott will be the lone action on Friday followed by an 18-game slate set for Saturday afternoon across the league to close out the week.
