CHARLOTTE, NC – Four-game conference sweeps for three ranked Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference baseball teams have led to moves up the polls for Johnson County Community College, Cloud County Community College, and Hutchinson Community College in the latest NJCAA Division 1 Baseball top 25 rankings released on Monday, March 9th.
Combining for a record of 58-6 this season through 64 games played, the trio of teams from the KJCCC gives the conference three teams a tie for the most ranked teams among the top 16 of any NJCAA Region along with NJCAA Region 8 (Florida) and one of just four NJCAA regions (1 – Arizona, 8 – Florida, 5 - West Texas/New Mexico) as NJCAA Regions with three or more ranked teams this week.
Leading the way following a four-game sweep of Highland Community College, Johnson County made another incremental move up the poll to number two after outscoring the Scotties 54-4 across the four-game series while scoring at least eight runs in all four games to improve to 22-2 overall. Just one spot back of JCCC is Cloud County, as the Thunderbirds are off to their best start in program history with an 18-1 record after sweeping a four-game series over Pratt to open KJCCC West Division play to run their winning streak to 12-straight games. Also ranked from the KJCCC West Division is Hutchinson, with the Blue Dragons making a two-spot jump up the standings to number 16 after scoring 56 runs in a four-game series sweep over Colby Community College.
