Kevon Abrams, sophomore, was a workhorse for Butler against Coffeyville but also proved to be a breakaway threat. He had two touchdowns runs – one of 80 yards and another for 77 yards – on his way to 22 carries for 244 yards, an average of 11.1 yards per carry. He also caught two passes for an additional 19 yards, giving him 263 yards of total offense in the game. For the season, Abrams is averaging 203 yards per game, which leads the NJCAA and is second among all college running backs, regardless of classification (De'Eric Bell of NCAA Division III Guilford is averaging 210 yards through two games).
Elijah West, sophomore, came up with a game-ending interception for Butler, sealing a 36-34 win over arch-rival Coffeyville at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex. He also broke up another pass and had six solo tackles, helping Butler clamp down on the Ravens, especially in a scoreless fourth quarter.
Chris Diddle, freshman, scored 10 points in Butler's 36-34 win over Coffeyville. He was perfect on extra points (4-4) and also nailed two field goals, one from 30 yards and the other from 39. Diddle also was a presence on kickoffs, making two solo tackles.
