KJCCC FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK - WEEK 7
Members of the Hutchinson and Butler Football team were tapped as Jayhawk Conference Players of the Week for Week 7 of the 2021 football season.
Hutchinson earned two weekly honors from a 20-7 win at Highland on Saturday. Running Back Anward Lewis was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week. Safety Deshon Singleton was the KJCCC Defensive Player of the Week. Butler kicker Carson Arndt had a very busy game in an 86-6 win over McDougle Technology Institute and was named the KJCCC Special Teams Player of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Anwar Lewis, Hutchinson
Hutchinson sophomore running back Anwar Lewis had a fourth-straight 100-yard game and moved up six spots to No. 13 on the Blue Dragon career rushing list with a strong game in a 20-7 win over the Highland Scotties on Saturday in Highland. Lewis, the Pensacola, Florida, product, ran 26 times for 174 yards with a 38-yard touchdown to pace the Blue Dragons in the KJCC road victory. Lewis leads the Jayhawk Conference and is sixth in the nation in rushing with 826 yards and six touchdowns. Lewis has scored a touchdown in five straight games.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Deshon Singleton, Hutchinson
Hutchinson Community College freshman safety Deshon Singleton made biggest defensive play for the Blue Dragons in a 20-7 win over Highland on Saturday. A freshman from Amite, Louisiana, Singleton intercepted a pass in the end zone late in the first half that kept a 13-point lead at 13 points. Had Highland scored, it would have been a one-possession game with Highland receiving the second-half kickoff. Singleton had a second interception in the third quarter to thwart another Scotty advance.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Carson Arndt, Butler
Carson Arndt, freshman kicker from Wichtia, Kansas, scored 12 of the Grizzlies 86 points Saturday in the win over McDougle Technical Institute. Arndt was a perfect 12 for 12 on extra point attempts in the game. Arndt also had 13 kickoffs for a total of 675 yards, an average of 52 yards per kickoff. Arndt is 32 of 35 this season on extra points.
