2025 KJCCC Football Players of the Week - Week 12
COLBY, Kan. – Helping lead their teams to road wins in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play, Butler Community College players Markellus Bass and Justyce Betts, along with Hutchinson’s Kordell Gouldsby, have all earned KJCCC Football Player of the Week honors for Week 12.
Markellus Bass (Butler) – KJCCC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Grizzly running back Markellus Bass put up his best performance of the year in a 30-10 road win at Dodge City, rushing for 187 yards on 17 carries. The sophomore averaged 11 yards per carry and found the endzone three times to help Butler finish KJCCC play with a 4-2 mark. Bass is currently leading the country in rushing yards per game at 125.2 per contest and is second in rushing yards, just 41 yards shy of the NJCAA rushing lead ahead of Butler's season finale this coming Saturday.
Justyce Betts (Butler) – KJCCC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Butler linebacker Justyce Betts had an impressive showing in a 30-10 Grizzly road win at Dodge City, leading BCC defensively with 11 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and one sack. The sophomore leads Butler in total tackles, averaging 9.2 stops per game, with a team-best 7.0 tackles for loss. Both marks currently lead all KJCCC football players while ranking sixth nationally among all NJCAA D1 football players.
Kordell Gouldsby (Hutchinson) – KJCCC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Sophomore Blue Dragon return specialist Kordell Gouldsby had two big returns that set up short-field scoring opportunities early in the game as the number-one ranked Blue Dragons defeated Highland 49-7 on Saturday. Gouldsby opened the game with a 56-yard kickoff return that set the Dragons up at the Highland 36. Four plays later, the Dragons scored. Gouldsby also had a 30-yard punt return in the first quarter that led to a field goal. Gouldsby had 96 all-purpose yards against the Scotties.
