2025 KJCCC Football Players of the Week - Week 3
COLBY, Kan. – Having big performances in home openers for their respective teams, Hutchinson Community College’s Derrick Salley Jr. and Teegan Haines, along with Butler Community College’s Levi Wittenberg have all been named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Football Players of the Week.
Derrick Salley Jr. (Hutchinson) – KJCCC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Blue Dragon sophomore receiver Derrick Salley Jr. posted his first 100-yard receiving game and caught what became the game-winning touchdown with 1:01 remaining in the fourth quarter to lift top-ranked Hutchinson to a 30-27 come-from-behind victory over number two Iowa Western at Gowans Stadium. Salley, who now has four touchdown receptions in two games, caught four balls for 106 yards against the Reivers. Hauling in a long reception of 52 yards to get the Dragons out of a deep hole, Salley then caught a 3-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Christian Johnson in the right corner of the end zone on third down to give the Dragons a 30-27 lead with 1:01 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Teegan Haines (Hutchinson) – KJCCC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Blue Dragon sophomore linebacker Teegan Haines had a career-high 12 tackles to lead Hutchinson's defense to a 30-27 victory over number two Iowa Western on Saturday at Gowans Stadium. Haines had five unassisted tackles while adding 2.5 tackles for loss to lead the Blue Dragons. The sophomore had key fourth-quarter stops during two big defensive stops that ultimately led to the Blue Dragons' game-winning touchdown drive with 2:20 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Levi Wittenberg (Butler) – KJCCC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
El Dorado, Kansas native Levi Wittenberg had the game of his life this past Saturday when the 15th-ranked Grizzlies defeated Ellsworth 86-0. Wittenberg finished the evening with three blocked punts and returned one for a touchdown. Wittenberg's first blocked punt came early in the first quarter as he returned it six yards for a touchdown to give Butler a 13-0 lead en route to tying a program record for points scored in a game.
