2025 KJCCC Football Players of the Week - Week 6
COLBY, Kan. – Shutout home victories for Independence Community College and Garden City Community College have led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Football Player of the Week honors for Pirate wide receiver Ejani Shakir and Broncbuster players Asher Horn and Lucca Alcaraz Valens.
Ejani Shakir (Independence) – KJCCC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Sophomore wide receiver Ejani Shakir added to his team highs in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns with a huge day, helping the Pirates get their first KJCCC win of the season. Shakir caught four passes for 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The second of his two touchdowns was an 87-yard reception with a minute to go before halftime to extend the Pirate lead to 19-0.
Asher Horn (Garden City) – KJCCC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Sophomore defensive back Asher Horn made a major impact in Garden City's dominant defensive performance. Horn recorded two interceptions, including one returned 87 yards for a touchdown, and added 2 pass breakups. His ability to read the field and create game-changing turnovers helped anchor the Broncbusters' secondary in the victory.
Lucca Alcaraz Valens (Garden City) – KJCCC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Freshman kicker Lucca Valen Alcaraz turned in a dominant performance in Garden City's 89-0 win over Community Christian (Michigan). Alcaraz went 9-for-10 on extra points, 2-for-2 on field goals with a long of 37 yards, and averaged 54.3 yards on 15 kickoffs, including eight touchbacks.
