COLBY, Kan. – Wins by Coffeyville Community College and Hutchinson Community College last week to set up a top-10 showdown on Saturday were led by this week’s Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Football Players of the Week Mac Armstrong, Nakarius Allen, and Kordell Gouldsby.  

Mac Armstrong (Coffeyville) – KJCCC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Coffeyville freshman quarterback Mac Armstrong excelled in a 34-21 defeat of number nine Iowa Central last Saturday. Armstrong was 17 for 24 for 258 yards and 2 touchdowns through the air while adding 37 rushing yards on 7 rush attempts in the game. The two touchdown passes for Armstrong came with a 2-yard pass to open the second quarter before tossing a 54-yard touchdown in the final two minutes of the first half to put the Red Ravens up 24-7 at the break as part of Coffeyville's third win over a ranked opponent this season.

Nakarius Allen (Coffeyville) – KJCCC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Red Raven freshman defensive back Nakarius Allen was all over the field as Coffeyville defeated number nine Iowa Central by a score of 34-21 to improve to 4-2 this season. In the game, Allen had 9 total tackles, including one tackle for loss, and a crucial fourth-quarter fumble recovery that led to a Coffeyville touchdown to put CCC up 31-21 with just over six minutes remaining.

Kordell Gouldsby (Hutchinson) – KJCCC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Hutchinson return specialist Kordell Gouldsby returned a pair of punts for touchdowns as the number one-ranked Blue Dragons rolled over Independence 71-12 on Saturday at Gowans Stadium. The sophomore from Tulsa, Oklahoma, had returns of 34 and 56 yards for scores to lead the Blue Dragon special teams. For the game, Gouldsby averaged 29.5 yards per punt return and became the first Blue Dragon since 2023 to return two punts for touchdowns in the same game. Gouldsby now has five career returns for touchdowns.
