KJCCC Football Teams Continue To Move Up Rankings In NJCAA Week 9 Poll
NJCAA Division 1 Football Week 9 Rankings
CHARLOTTE, NC – Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference football teams continue to make moves up the rankings, with three of the four ranked teams from the conference seeing positive changes in the latest NJCAA Division 1 Football rankings.
For the second-straight week, the top three of the rankings with Hutchinson Community College, Iowa Western Community College, and Tyler Junior College all holding their respective rankings from the week prior. Hutchinson remains the unanimous top-ranked team following a 71-12 win at home over Independence Community College. Following an off week for Garden City, the Broncbusters took advantage of upsets in NJCAA Region 23 (Mississippi) to move up one spot to sixth while holding a 5-1 overall record. Coffeyville is up two spots this week after beating previously number nine-ranked Iowa Central to be ranked number 10 this week, while Butler is up one spot to number 13 after playing for the first time in three weeks and earning a 38-3 home win over Butler.
Six KJCCC schools will be in action across four games this week, including a pair of matchups between KJCCC schools. Kicking off the weekend is Dodge City making the long trek to Ellsworth Community College for an 11 AM kickoff in Iowa Falls, while Hutchinson hosts Independence for a KJCCC matchup at 1 PM at Gowans Stadium. Also kicking off at 1 PM is Coffeyville against Iowa Central in Coffeyville, while Butler will play host to Highland with a 3 PM kickoff in El Dorado.
Four games are on this week’s schedule, highlighted by two ranked matchups between KJCCC schools. Highland will host NJCAA Division 3 number 1 College of DuPage in a non-conference matchup in the lone Saturday afternoon matchup while number six Garden City will host number 13 Butler and top-ranked Hutchinson will host number 10 Coffeyville in a pair of 7 PM contests. A rare Sunday contest is also part of this week’s schedule, with Independence hosting number two Iowa Western at 11 AM on October 26th.
