Coffeyville Jumps Into Latest NJCAA Football Top 15, Joining Hutchinson And Garden City
NJCAA Division 1 Football Week 6 Rankings
CHARLOTTE, NC – The lone ranked matchup within the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference last week has resulted in changes for conference schools in the week six NJCAA Division 1 Football Top 15 poll, as three teams are ranked in the top 10 with a fourth receiving votes.
More or less swapping spots was Coffeyville and Butler as the Red Ravens picked up a 31-28 win over the previously unbeaten Grizzlies to move from receiving votes into the rankings for the first time this season by holding the number 10 ranking. Butler, meanwhile, goes from ranked ninth to receiving votes while holding a 3-1 overall record after nearly completing a massive comeback from 31-7 down to fall by a field goal to the Red Ravens. Unchanged in this week’s rankings is top-ranked Hutchinson following a bye-week, while Garden City used a 66-10 road win at Ellsworth to maintain their number eight ranking this week as part of an unchanged top eight in the poll.
After seeing just four KJCCC teams in action last week, things ramp back up to kick off the month of October with six of the seven conference schools in action, while seeing one game taking place between conference foes. A pair of 11 AM kickoffs on Saturday will get the day started as Garden City will play host to Community Christian College (Michigan) and Hutchinson will travel to Ellsworth, while Dodge City will make the trek to Fort Dodge, Iowa for a 12 PM kickoff against number 14 Iowa Central. In Southeast Kansas, Independence will host Highland in a 1 PM kickoff, while number 10 Coffeyville will host number two Iowa Western in a battle of top 10 teams.
