KJCCC Announces 2024-25 All-Academic Awards
COLBY, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has announced its 2024-2025 KJCCC All-Academic Award winners with 1,602 student-athletes across 20 conference schools earning the award after finishing the academic year with at least a 3.5 overall GPA.
Among the 1,602 student-athletes to earn the award, six different sports (baseball, softball, volleyball, women’s soccer, men’s soccer, and women’s basketball) had at least 100 student-athletes earning the award across the conference with baseball leading all sports with 317 student-athletes being honored. Four different schools (Allen, Barton, Garden City, and Neosho County) each had at least 100 student-athletes from their school recognized with the award while 10 of the 20 schools had at least 80 student-athletes who qualified for the award. Barton, which boasts a conference-high 22 sports in their athletic department, finished with a conference-high 150 student-athletes being honored with Neosho County (115) and Allen (110) finishing with the second and third-most honorees.
Sport-by-sport GPAs saw volleyball (19 schools) combine for an overall GPA of 3.44 to finish the year with the highest sport GPA in the conference among the 25 sports offered by the KJCCC with women’s golf (four schools) finishing second with a 3.42 GPA. Of the 25 sports that are sponsored by conference schools, 19 finished with GPAs above 3.0 to help the conference achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.099.
In the school-by-school GPA standings, Johnson County finished the year with the highest athletic department GPA after finishing with a 3.36 department GPA with Kansas City Kansas Community College finishing second with a 3.32 department GPA. Rounding out the top five of the school athletic department GPAs were Barton (3.30), Colby (3.24), and Allen (3.22). Among the 20 schools in the conference, 15 finished with department GPAs of 3.0 or better.
