KJCCC Releases 2025-26 All-KJCCC D1 Men's Basketball Teams, Hankins, Rivers Named Co-MVPs
2025-26 D1 Men's Basketball All-KJCCC Teams
COLBY, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has announced the 2025-26 KJCCC D1 Men’s Basketball All-KJCCC teams and winners of the major postseason honors. The awards, which were voted on by each of the league head coaches, include five individuals bringing home major accolades.
Major award winners from the 2025-26 regular season are Co-Most Valuable Players Tristan Hankins (Butler) and Derrick Rivers (Dodge City), Defensive Player of the Year Wesly Rosa (Dodge City), Newcomer of the Year Noah Williams (Barton), and Coach of the Year Eric Nitsche (Butler). Hankins was also named the Freshman of the Year to earn two of the four major individual player awards.
Co-Most Valuable Player/Freshman of the Year: Tristan Hankins (Butler)
Doubling up on postseason awards, Hankins Jr. helped lead the Grizzlies to a share of the KJCCC Division 1 regular season title for the first time since the 2014-15 season and advance to the NJCAA Region 6 Tournament semifinals for fifth-straight season. Averaging 17.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, Hankins had the fifth-best scoring average in the KJCCC while recording the eighth-best assist-to-turnover ratio with a 2.0 average. Connecting on 48.2 percent of his shots from the field, Hankins scored in double-figures in 22 of his 27 games played which included a career-best 37 in a road loss to Barton on January 3rd.
Co-Most Valuable Player: Derrick Rivers (Dodge City)
The second-highest scorer in the KJCCC, Rivers was one of two players in the conference to average over 20 points per game by scoring 20.4 points per contest in addition to recording 4.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Helping run a Conquistador offense that averaged 82.6 points per game, Rivers started all 31 games for Dodge City this season and was limited to single-digits in just one contest while scoring 25 or more points in 11 games.
Defensive Player of the Year: Wesly Rosa (Dodge City)
Using all of his 7-2 frame to make his presence known throughout the league, Rosa led the conference in field goal percentage (75.2 percent), rebounds per game (9.7), and total blocks (99) while averaging 0.4 steals per contest. In conference games, Rosa averaged 10.1 rebounds and 4.2 blocks per game, including a 22-point, 15-rebound, 13-block performance in an overtime victory at Cloud County on November 29th. Nationally, Rosa leads all NJCAA Division 1 players in field goal percentage, ranks second in blocks, and 11th in rebounds per game.
Newcomer of the Year: Noah Williams (Barton)
Williams was a key piece to Barton securing their second KJCCC D1 men’s basketball regular season title in the past three seasons, averaging 14.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. The rebounding average ranks third in the KJCCC this season, while his scoring average was the 12th-best among all KJCCC D1 men’s basketball players. Upping his scoring average to 15.8 points per game against conference foes, Williams also added to his rebounding average in KJCCC contests by hauling in 8.2 rebounds per game during the 24-game conference slate.
Coach of the Year: Eric Nitsche (Butler)
Pushing the Grizzly offense to a conference-best 103.8 point per game scoring average, Nitsche led Butler to a share of the KJCCC D1 men’s basketball regular season title for the first time since 2014-15 following a 21-9 overall record during the regular season. BCC led the KJCCC in scoring average, assists per game (20.8), and steals per game (12.5), while ranking third in the league in total rebounding (40.0). Nationally, Butler ranked second in the NJCAA in scoring average as well as fourth in the NJCAA in steals and assists per game.
