KJCCC D2 Men's Basketball Awards Announced, Johnson County's Tavian Cruse Named MVP
2025-26 D2 Men's Basketball All-KJCCC Teams
COLBY, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has announced the 2025-26 KJCCC D2 Men’s Basketball All-KJCCC teams and winners of the major postseason honors. The awards, which were voted on by each of the league head coaches, include five individuals bringing home major accolades.
Major award winners from the 2025-26 regular season are Most Valuable Player Tavian Cruse (Johnson County), Freshman of the Year Clyde Davis Jr. (Allen), Newcomer of the Year Aidan Wing (Johnson County), Defensive Player of the Year Jadyn Hollis (Fort Scott), and Coach of the Year Rand Chappell (Johnson County).
Most Valuable Player: Tavian Cruse (Johnson County)
The KJCCC leader in rebounding this season, with an average of 10.4 rebounds per contest, Cruse averaged a double-double across 30 games this season after netting a scoring average of 13.3 points per game while recording the second-best field goal percentage in the league (55.6 percent). The sophomore also ranked sixth in the KJCCC in total blocks (16) and recorded a double-double in 18 games this year while scoring in double figures in 25 contests.
Freshman of the Year: Clyde Davis Jr. (Allen)
Davis Jr. finished the year as the second-leading scorer in the KJCCC with an 18.7 points per game average while helping the Red Devils to a second-place finish in the KJCCC and NJCAA Region 6 Tournament runner-up finish. Hauling in 5.4 rebounds per game, Davis Jr. also provided 3.9 assists per game and ranked in the top 10 in the KJCCC in assists, steals, and free-throw percentage.
Newcomer of the Year: Aidan Wing (Johnson County)
Johnson County’s leading scorer at 15.4 points per game, Wing ranked fifth in the KJCCC in scoring average and sixth in rebounding average (6.3) while recording the fourth-best field goal percentage (53.4 percent) in the conference this season. Starting the season with 16 straight games scoring in double-figures, Wing ended the season with another 10-game streak of scoring in double-figures to finish with at least 10 points in 26 of 28 games played and had three double-doubles.
Defensive Player of the Year: Jadyn Hollis (Fort Scott)
Fort Scott’s floor general, Hollis filled the stat sheet for the Greyhounds this season by ranking third in the KJCCC in steals (55) and assists (126) while finishing as one of three FSCC players to average over 10 points per game (10.4). Shooting nearly 44 percent from the field, Hollis had a 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio and had 10 games of 15 or more points this season, including a 30-point outing in the season opener against Iowa Western.
Coach of the Year: Rand Chappell (Johnson County) Coach of the Year
Leading Johnson County to their first undefeated regular season in program history, Chappell earns his third KJCCC Coach of the Year honors in the past four years. Ranked number three in the final NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Basketball regular season top 25 poll, JCCC led the KJCCC in points per game this season (88.1) and field goal percentage (49.1 percent) while holding opponents to a conference best 65.1 points per game. Nationally, Johnson County ranked ninth in NJCAA Division 2 in rebounding and eighth in points per game allowed as the Cavaliers are seeking an at-large bid to the NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Basketball National Tournament after being upset in the NJCAA Region 6 D2 Men’s Basketball Tournament semifinals.
