2025-26 KJCCC Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Week 1
COLBY, Kan. Big opening weekends for Hutchinson Community College forward Bobby Cannon and Kansas City Kansas Community College guard Anthony Leonard have led to the first Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors of the season for the duo.
Bobby Cannon – Hutchinson (KJCCC Division 1 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week)
Hutchinson sophomore Bobby Cannon exploded in two games at the State Fair Classic last weekend in Sedalia, Missouri, posting a pair of double-doubles in leading the Blue Dragons to two impressive victories. On Friday against host State Fair, Cannon had 22 points and a career-high 14 rebounds in a 78-71 victory over the Roadrunners. Cannon hit a career-high five 3-pointers in a 29-point, 14-rebound game the next day in a 94-64 win over NEO on Saturday. Cannon added five assists, also a career best, in the victory over the Golden Norse. For the week, the Winston-Salem, NC native averaged 25.5 points and 14.0 rebounds per game while shooting 57.1 percent from the floor.
Anthony Leonard – KCKCC (KJCCC Division 2 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week)
Anthony Leonard averaged 20.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 steals over two games to open the season for the number 22-ranked Blue Devils at a classic hosted by Palm Beach State College. The freshman shot 51.6 percent from the field and 72.7 percent from the free-throw line, highlighted by a 25-point performance against number 24-ranked Palm Beach State and 15 points in a 64-61 win over a Florida State College at Jacksonville team that is receiving votes in the NJCAA Division 2 top 25 poll to begin the season.
