Hutchinson's Charlie Box Wins NJCAA D1 Men's Golf National Title, 4 From KJCCC Earn All-America Status

NEWTON, Kan. – Carding a 72-hole total of five-under 283, Hutchinson Community College sophomore Charlie Box earned the 2025 NJCAA Division 1 Men's Golf individual National Championship while finishing as one of four Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference men's golfers to earn NJCAA Division1 Men's Golf All-America status following the 2025 NJCAA Division 1 Men's Golf National Championship meet held at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas.
In the team scoring, Hutchinson was the highest-finishing team of three KJCCC schools in the tournament as the Blue Dragons finished with a four-round total of 1,179 (+27), 13 shots clear of Dodge City Community College who finished seventh with a score of 1,192 (+40). Also representing the KJCCC was Garden City who finished in 16th place after shooting a total of 1,211 (+59), 12 shots out of a 10th place which was secured by Central Alabama Community College.
A consistent week by Box saw three of the four rounds played under par by the Leicester, England native as an opening round of two-under 70 was followed by a three-under 69 and one-under 71 to share the 54-hole lead with Adam Bresnu of Odessa College. The duo remained tied in the individual scoring entering the 72nd hole on Friday afternoon, with Box managing to par the final hole while Bresnu finished with a bogey to end his round with a two-over 74 compared to the one-over 73 that was shot by Box to win the title among a 145-man field.
Also earning first-team All-American status was Garden City's Ilan Dufrenoy who put together rounds of 73-70-72-74 for a total of one over 289 to finish tied for sixth place after picking up three spots on the final day of action. Two shots back of Dufrenoy was Dodge City's Rhys Nicholas who opened his tournament with an even-par 72 followed by a two-under seven before finishing the tournament with rounds of 75 and 74 to finish with a 72-hole score of three over 291 to finish in a three-way tie for 11th to earn second-team All-America honors. Hutchinson's Tyler Walker was the lone other finisher from the KJCCC inside the top 20 by finishing tied for 20th after carding rounds of 71-72-72-79 for a total of 294 (+6).
The individual National Champion for the KJCCC marks the second-straight year and fourth in the past five years that a KJCCC men's golfer has won a National Title after Thanaphon Suwannapratheep (Dodge City) became the first Conquistador in program history to win an individual National Title. 2022 saw Hutchinson's Dominic Clemons tie with JT Pittman (Midland College) while a pair of Blue Dragons (Ben Patridge, Harry Crockett) tied for National Champion honors at the 2021 National Championship meet.
