2016 KJCCC Men's Soccer Players of the Week, Week 8

Marcos Gomes, Cloud County freshman, played his first game of the season at outside midfielder against Northwest Kansas Technical College and scored a hat trick after entering the game with one goal in 2016. His cousin, Roberto Gomes, scored the fourth goal of the game for Cloud County After his five goals last week, Gomes is now the second leading goal scorer for the No. 12 ranked T-Birds. Against Hesston College, Gomes tallied two assists and had his two second-half goals come just 15 seconds apart from each other.

Sophomore Bruce Turner kept his 2016 record unblemished protecting the net in two Barton victories this past week.  Rejecting nine of the ten shots faced, Turner was stellar in the tight 2-1 win over Garden City on Monday.  With the Cougars trailing 1-0 in first half action, Turner's athletic deflection of an upper-90 shot was critical in keeping the deficit at one finishing with five saves enabling the 2-1 comeback win.  In Thursday's regional win over Hesston, Turner kept the net clean for the third time in four games since re-earning the starting goalkeeper job improving to 4-0 helping the Cougars to a 10-2 overall record
