NJCAA Division 1 Men's Soccer Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Men's Soccer Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – Early season tests for Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference men’s soccer teams have resulted in changes to the latest NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 Men’s Soccer top 20 polls, with the national office releasing their first regular season polls of the season on Tuesday, September 2nd.
All three KJCCC teams that were ranked in the preseason polls remain ranked in the first regular season polls, along with one newcomer as both polls feature two teams from NJCAA Region 6. Of the four teams that are ranked, two maintained their preseason ranking following the opening two weeks of play while the other two saw significant movement to their new rankings.
In the NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Soccer poll, Neosho County holds steady at number two despite seeing massive shifts in the poll that features a brand new number one team in Phoenix College. The Panthers are off to a 2-0-1 start this season, with wins over Patrick & Henry Community College and St. Louis Community College, while playing to a 1-1 draw with number nine-ranked Western Iowa Tech. Also ranked in this week’s NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Soccer poll is Johnson County Community College, with the Cavaliers holding the number 14 ranking after dropping road matches at number seven Mississippi Gulf Coast and number 10 Pearl River before earning a 4-2 win over number 20-ranked Southeastern Iowa Community College.
Looking at the NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Soccer rankings, Cowley College has used a 2-0 start to maintain its number four ranking as none of the top four teams from the preseason poll have changed. Making a jump from unranked to number nine was Barton Community College after seeing the Cougars get off to a 1-1-1 start, which included a draw with number two-ranked Indian Hills Community College before dropping a 1-0 decision to top-ranked Iowa Western last weekend.
Action continues this week with 11 matches scheduled across the conference which includes the start of KJCCC Division 2 play and ranked matchups throughout the league. D1 number nine ranked Barton will continue a demanding non-conference schedule with a home match on Saturday against number 11 ranked Lewis & Clark Community College while Sunday afternoon will see D2 number 14 Johnson County host D2 number three Iowa Lakes Community College in a battle of Plains District contenders.
