Cloud County's Alpha Mpofu Named NJCAA Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
CHARLOTTE, NC – Setting a new Cloud County record to earn Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, Thunderbird sophomore Alpha Mpofu has been named the NJCAA Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for week six of the 2026 season.

Alpha Mpofu tied the Cloud County 200-meter record with a time of 21.30 before going on to break the T-Bird record in the 400 meters with a time of 46.65. The sophomore also ran the anchor leg on the 4x400 meter relay, recording a split of 46.58 for CCCC. Mpofu now ranks fourth in the NJCAA in the 400 meters and ninth in the 200 meters, while the 4x400 meter relay time was a national qualifying mark and ranks seventh.
