2017 KJCCC D1 Softball Players of the Week, Week 5

Becca Schulte powered the top-ranked Butler softball team to four wins last week, with a banner day against Maple Woods. In the first game of the doubleheader, she went 2-3, scoring two runs and hitting a solo home run. In the second game, she was 3-4 at the plate with three home runs, driving in six runs. The next day against Colby, she continued her streak with three hits in six at-bats, with two doubles, two RBI, two walks and three runs scored. For the week, she hit 8-13 (.615) with eight runs scored, nine RBI, four home runs and two doubles.

Regan Mergele improved to 11-0 on the season with two victories this week. On Tuesday, she went four innings against Maple Woods, allowing one hit while striking out seven. The next day, in a conference game against Colby, she went three innings, again allowing just one hit while striking out seven.  For the season, she has struck out 83 batters in 57.1 innings of work.
