2017 KJCCC D2 Softball Players of the Week, Week 7

Johnson County sophomore pitcher Megan Deiter pitched two shutouts last week. In her first victory, Dieter hurled a one-hit, seven-inning shutout with seven strikeouts. Her bid for a no-hitter was broken up with one out in the top of the sixth inning. Dieter followed the next series with a 9-0 shutout over Cloud County. She scattered five hits and struck out eight.

Johnson County freshman Sammi Bates hit .583 (7-for-12) with four runs scored, a double, home run, four RBIs and a steal to lead the Lady Cavaliers to a 4-0 week, including a sweep over No. 8-ranked Highland. In the opening game against the Scotties, Bates scored what proved to be the game winning run in a 2-0 victory. In the first game in a sweep of Cloud County, Bates collected a single, double and homer, scored three and drove in three in a 9-0 win. She capped the series with two singles, a run scored and an RBI in a 7-1 win.
