Player of the Week:  Makayla Garcia (Dodge City CC)

Dodge City softball opened the 2022 season with a pair of wins at Lamar and then competed in the Winter Blast Tournament in Denison, Texas. Sophomore, Makayla Garcia recorded at least one hit in all five games she played in for the Conquistadors out of the six games to start the season. Garcia went 3-4 with three runs scored, an RBI, double, and stolen base in the season opening 14-6 win at Lamar and finished the double header by going 3-5 in game two with two runs scored, three RBI, and a triple. In Texas she went 4-9 in three games.

Pitcher of the Week: Emma Koeneke (Butler CC)

Emma Koeneke, freshman pitcher from Platte City, MO, had a great opening weekend appearing in her first two collegiate games. Koeneke picked up both wins for Butler on opening weekend one as a starter and one as relief. Koeneke struck out 15 batters in her seven total innings pitched between the two games. She gave up no runs off just one hit while facing 28 batters on the weekend.
