Johnson County Softball Draws #11 Seed In D2 World Series Bracket, To Face #6 Seed Kirkwood
CHARLOTTE, NC – 2025 NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Softball and Plains District Tournament Champions Johnson County Community College has earned the number 11 seed in the upcoming NJCAA Division 2 Softball World Series, which will be held at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, AL.
Making their second consecutive appearance in the NJCAA Division 2 Softball World Series, JCCC will open their 2025 National Tournament on Monday, May 19th with a 6 PM (EDT) first pitch against number six-seed Kirkwood Community College. The Eagles, winners of the Northwest Plains “A” District, will enter the National Tournament with a 50-16 overall record in what will be their 10th consecutive appearance in the NJCAA Division 2 Softball World Series.
Monday’s game will mark the second straight season that the Cavaliers and Eagles have met in the World Series, with Kirkwood taking a 2-1 victory in the Quarterfinal round last before finishing as National Runners-Up with both losses in the National Tournament coming to St. Johns River State College. Earlier this season, Johson County and Kirkwood met in what ended up as an 11-2 win for KCC in five innings in Overland Park.
Other teams that Johnson County could potentially face on their side of the bracket include number three seed Jones College, number 14 seed Black Hawk College, and number 19 seed Delaware Technical College while the bottom portion of the right side of the bracket features number two seed Murray State College, number seven Pima, number 10 Iowa Central, number 15 Lansing Community College, and number 18 Bryant & Stratton (WI). The winner of Monday’s Johnson County vs Kirkwood game advances to play on Wednesday at 3 PM (EDT) while the loser faces an 11 AM (EDT) elimination game on Wednesday afternoon against the winner of a Tuesday elimination game between one of five potential foes (number two Murray State, number 15 Lansing, number 16 West Virginia University – Potomac State, number 17 Mercer County, and number 18 Bryant & Stratton).
