KJCCC Division 1 Softball Players of the Week - Week 3
COLBY, Kan. – A four-game sweep for Hutchinson Community College and a win for Barton Community College over number 18-ranked Seminole State College were led by the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Softball Week 3 Players of the Week, Riley Dreher and Charley Wheeler.
Riley Dreher – Hutchinson (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Player of the Week)
Blue Dragon shortstop Riley Dreher had four multi-hit games - three two-hit games and one three-hit game to lead Hutchinson to a four-game sweep of Northeast CC last weekend at Fun Valley Sports Complex. Dreher hit .714 (10 for 14) with four doubles and a triple last week. The freshman had eight runs batted in and scored five runs and is now hitting .667 to start the season while recording at least one hit in all eight games this season.
Charley Wheeler – Barton (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
Charley Wheeler helped Barton to a 1-1 week, capped by a victory over number 18-ranked Seminole State. The freshman logged a composed 11.2 innings, allowing just three earned runs for a 1.80 ERA while scattering eight hits and striking out seven. Opposing hitters managed only singles, as Wheeler did not surrender an extra-base hit across the two appearances. After absorbing a tough-luck setback against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M despite permitting just one earned run in 4.2 innings, Wheeler responded with a complete-game effort in a 4-2 win over the number 18-ranked Trojans, yielding two earned runs over seven strong frames to earn the victory.
