KJCCC Division 1 Softball Players of the Week - Week 7
COLBY, Kan. – A busy week featuring eight games for the Dodge City Community College softball team provided for strong outings from this week’s Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Softball Players of the Week as Conquistadors Sophie Faidley and Avery McCloskey have swept week seven honors.
Sophie Faidley – Dodge City (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Player of the Week) Dodge City softball had a busy week, going 6-2 and remaining unbeaten in KJCCC play. Sophie Faidley played in six of the team's eight games during the week, suiting up at catcher and recording at least one hit in each game played. The freshmen hit .632 for the week with 12 hits, nine runs scored, two doubles, four home runs, a walk, and 12 RBI. Four of the six games Faidley played were multi-hit games, including going three-for-four with a home run, five RBI, and two runs scored in a 22-1 win over Dakota College at Bottineau, while going three-for-three with a run scored, a double, a home run, and an RBI in a 6-0 win over Pratt.
Avery McCloskey – Dodge City (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
Dodge City softball had a busy week, going 6-2 and remaining unbeaten in KJCCC play. Avery McCloskey was key for the Conquistadors throughout the week in the circle, earning four wins across five appearances. Two of McCloskey's wins came in relief against Pratt, to go along with two wins as the starter against Fort Hays Tech and Dakota College at Bottineau. McCloskey tossed 17.1 total innings, giving up just five runs and striking out 17.
