KJCCC Division 2 Softball Players of the Week - Week 3
COLBY, Kan. – Week three Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Softball Player of the Week awards have been announced, with Johnson County Community College shortstop Mackenzie Yoder and Kansas City Kansas Community College pitcher Gabby Pemberton each earning their first career Player of the Week accolade.
Mackenzie Yoder – Johnson County (KJCCC Division 2 Softball Player of the Week)
Makenzie Yoder had a big week while helping the 12th-ranked Cavaliers win three of four games against top-tier competition. The sophomore hit .692 for the week with two doubles, a home run, six runs scored, three walks, four stolen bases, and nine RBI. Yoder recorded multiple hits in all four games, including a three-hit game in the back end of a doubleheader with number 22 nationally ranked Iowa Central by going three-for-four with a double and three RBI.
Gabby Pemberton – KCKCC (KJCCC Division 2 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
Pemberton made her collegiate debut against McCook Community College, pitching in relief in both games of a doubleheader with the Indians and tossing 6.1 shutout innings. Striking out three across three innings of one-hit softball in game one, Pemberton added another 3.1 hitless innings of work in game two against McCook and struck out three more to finish the doubleheader with six strikeouts and a whip of 0.32.
