KJCCC Division 2 Softball Players of the Week - Week 7
COLBY, Kan. – Starting off Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play with four wins as part of a 6-0 week, the Johnson County Community College softball team has swept the KJCCC Division 2 Softball Player of the Week awards with Kennedy Glassford and Elsa Carillo picking up week seven honors.
Kennedy Glassford – Johnson County (KJCCC Division 2 Softball Player of the Week)
Kennedy Glassford helped lead Johnson County to six victories last week with doubleheader sweeps of Labette, Cloud County, and St. Louis Community College. The freshman outfielder batted .529 (nine-for-17) with three doubles, two walks, eight runs scored, and 11 RBI. Glassford opened the week with five hits across six at-bats with a double and five RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Labette before adding two more hits with a double against Cloud County two days later. Capping the week with a two-for-three performance with a double and two runs scored, Glassford ended her week with nine hits in 17 at-bats and had a .579 on-base percentage. For the season, Glassford is batting .446 (33-for-74) with 10 doubles, four triples, two homers, 28 runs, and 29 RBI.
Elsa Carillo – Johnson County (KJCCC Division 2 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
JCCC pitcher Elsa Carrillo put together one of her best three-game stretches of the season last week, winning all three of her starts. The sophomore right-hander delivered one of the most dominant performances of the season, tossing a no-hitter to lead Johnson County Community College to a 3-0 victory over Cloud County Community College in the second game of a doubleheader on March 28. Carrillo was in complete control from the first pitch, striking out six over seven innings while facing just 22 batters. After her no-hit gem, Carrillo was again steady in the circle, tossing a complete game while allowing three runs on six hits with three strikeouts and just one walk in a 6-3 win over St. Louis.
