Johnson County, KCKCC Move Up One Spot Each In Latest NJCAA D2 Softball Rankings
NJCAA Division 2 Softball Week 6 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – With conference play officially underway for Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 softball teams, the latest NJCAA Division 2 Softball Top 25 poll finds both Johnson County Community College and Kansas City Kansas Community College making one-spot improvements to their rankings in the latest poll.
The poll comes following the opening week of conference play for all 11 KJCCC Division 2 softball teams, as eight schools got four of their 20-game conference schedule completed with doubleheaders on Thursday and Saturday of last week, and now leaves just three unbeaten teams in conference play. Among the undefeated teams in KJCCC action, Johnson County is the lone team to open the conference slate with a pair of doubleheader sweeps last week after taking down Labette on the road and Cloud County at home, followed by a home sweep of St. Louis Community College to finish the week with a 6-0 record. Improving to 19-9 overall on the season, the Cavaliers were rewarded by moving up one spot to number 15 in the latest rankings while seeing Kansas City Kansas Community College also earn a one-spot improvement up to number 24 after sweeping North Central Missouri College and Highland on the road before splitting with St. Louis CC to close out the week and move to 18-10 overall.
The final two days of March show no signs of slowing down as three doubleheaders are scheduled to take place on Monday followed by three additional doubleheaders on Tuesday afternoon to send things into the month of April where KJCCC D1 softball conference action will resume with Barton traveling to Garden City, Fort Hays Tech Northwest traveling to Seward County, and Dodge City taking on Colby in doubleheader action. Thursday will find 10 of the 11 KJCCC Division 2 softball teams in action with conference play spread throughout the eastern half of the state, followed by five conference teams playing games on Friday across six games before the week concludes with two more doubleheaders in the Division 1 landscape, with Barton hosting Fort Hays Tech Northwest and Butler hosting Hutchinson.
