All-KJCCC D2 Women's Basketball Teams Announced, Layla Scott Named MVP
2025-26 D2 Women’s Basketball All-KJCCC Teams
COLBY, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has announced the 2025-26 KJCCC D2 Women’s Basketball All-KJCCC teams and winners of the major postseason honors. The awards, which were voted on by each of the league head coaches, include five individuals bringing home major accolades.
Major award winners from the 2025-26 regular season are Most Valuable Player Layla Scott (Johnson County), Freshman of the Year Mia Adams (Johnson County), Newcomer of the Year Ahmani Klabunde (Labette), Defensive Player of the Year Juana Rojas (Allen), and Coach of the Year Ben Conrad (Johnson County).
Most Valuable Player: Layla Scott (Johnson County)
The conference scoring average leader at 17.5 points per contest, Scott led the KJCCC in three-point field goal percentage (40.4 percent) and became Johnson County’s all-time made three-point field goal record holder this season after knocking down 109 triples in 32 games. The sophomore also led the league in free-throw percentage (79.1 percent), assists (130), and total points (559), while leading NJCAA Division two in made three-point field goals and ranking 10th in total points scored. In conference games, Scott averaged 17.2 points and 4.4 assists per contest while recording an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.5, adding 82 total rebounds and 27 steals.
Freshman of the Year: Mia Adams (Johnson County)
One of five players for Johnson County to average double-figures in the scoring column this season, Adams made 26 starts for the Cavaliers in 30 games played and averaged 13.4 points per game, which ranked fifth among KJCCC Division 2 players this season. Adding 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, Adams posted an efficient 49.3 percent shooting average in conference contests and reached double-figures in scoring in 24 games.
Newcomer of the Year: Ahmani Klabunde (Labette)
Klabunde helped engineer a Cardinal turnaround that saw Labette advance to the NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Women’s Basketball Tournament semifinals and win seven games this season after combining for four total wins the previous two years. Ranking second in the KJCCC in scoring average after scoring 15.9 points per contest, Klabunde also averaged 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest while adding 53 steals and seven blocks across 24 games.
Defensive Player of the Year: Juana Rojas (Allen)
Rojas helped lead Allen to a second-place finish in the KJCCC Division 2 women’s basketball regular season standings and an appearance in the 2026 NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Women’s Basketball Tournament semifinals while making 23 starts in 25 games for the Red Devils. Recording 33 steals and three blocks, Rojas helped ACC hold opponents to a 56.8 points per game average as teams shot 37.7 percent from the floor against Allen in conference play.
Coach of the Year: Ben Conrad (Coach of the Year)
Conrad led Johnson County to a third-straight undefeated regular season and the second NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Women’s Basketball Tournament title in the past three seasons, as Johnson County will enter the NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball National Tournament with an unblemished 32-0 record. Outscoring opponents by an average of 44.4 points per game, Johnson County had just two games in the regular season decided by single-digits and led the NJCAA in rebounds per game (53.5), ranked second in points per game (92.1), and had the nation’s best rebounding margin (23.4).
