Johnson County Women's Basketball Completes Third-Straight Unbeaten Regular Season, Earns Top Seed In Region 6 Tournament

COLBY, Kan. – For the sixth consecutive season, the Johnson County Community College women’s basketball team has won the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Women’s Basketball regular season title to earn the number one seed in the upcoming NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Women’s Basketball Plains District Tournament.
Completing a third-straight unbeaten regular season by going a perfect 30-0 record, the Cavaliers have now won 95 straight regular season contests dating back to February 16, 2023, as JCCC picks up its 11th regular season conference crown under 18th-year head coach Ben Conrad. The Cavaliers finished the KJCCC slate with a perfect 12-0 mark while outscoring teams by an average of 36 points per contest and not having a single conference game decided by fewer than 10 points.
A two-team tie for second in the final regular season standings saw Allen and Neosho County both finish the year with an 8-4 mark in conference games and securing opening round home games in the NJCAA Region 6 Tournament, with the tiebreaker being won by Allen by virtue of going 2-0 over Kansas City Kansas in the regular season. Joining the number two seed Red Devils and three-seed Panthers in the top four of the final standings to host an opening round NJCAA Division 2 Plains District Tournament game is Kansas City Kansas after the Blue Devils ended the regular season with three straight wins to earn a home playoff game.
The 2026 NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Women’s Basketball Tournament will begin on Tuesday, March 3rd, with three opening round games taking place on campus sites of the higher seed. Johnson County will receive an opening round bye to the semifinals and will begin their postseason at 1 PM on Friday, March 6th. In opening-round action, two-seed Allen will host seventh-seeded Highland at 6 PM in Iola, three-seed Neosho County will host six-seed Fort Scott at 5:30 PM in Chanute, and four-seed Kansas City Kansas will face off with fifth-seeded Labette at 5:30 PM in Kansas City.
Johnson County, along with the three winning teams from Tuesday night, will play in the semifinal round scheduled for Friday, March 6th, inside the KCKCC Fieldhouse on the campus of Kansas City Kansas Community College, with Johnson County taking on the winner of Kansas City Kansas and Labette in the first semifinal matchup at 1 PM. The second semifinal matchup of the day will see the winner of Allen and Highland square off against the winner of Neosho County and Fort Scott in a 5:30 PM quarterfinal matchup, with the NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Women’s Basketball Tournament Championship game set for 2 PM on Saturday, March 7th.
The winner of the 2026 NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Women’s Basketball Tournament will receive an automatic bid into the 2026 NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball National Tournament, with play scheduled for March 17-22 inside the Tarlton Complex in Hickory, NC.
