OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – It has been one week since the Johnson County Community College women’s and men’s basketball teams took sole possession as the only combined undefeated programs in the country at any level of college basketball.
That distinction became official last Wednesday night when Vanderbilt University’s men’s team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 80–64 to Texas, while the Commodores’ women’s team remains unbeaten.
Since then, both JCCC teams have continued their dominant play. On Saturday, the Cavaliers posted double-digit conference victories over rival Kansas City Kansas. On Wednesday night, they again cruised to convincing wins, with the women’s team handling Labette 94–63 and the men’s team overpowering the Cardinals 105–74.
The two Johnson County programs now boast a combined 40–0 record. The JCCC women stand at 21–0 and are ranked number one in the NJCAA Division 2 poll, while the men are 19–0 and ranked number three in the NJCAA Division 2 poll.
