Butler Becomes Highest-Ranked KJCCC D1 Women's Basketball Team, Neosho County Joins D2 Poll In Latest NJCAA Rankings
NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Week 12 Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball Week 12 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – For the first time this season, a shakeup to the latest NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball rankings has a new Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference team ranked inside the top three as part of a five-team group from the league that holds rankings in the NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 Women’s Basketball rankings released on Monday, February 9th.
Following a week of no changes to the rankings for KJCCC schools last week, a shakeup both within the conference and outside the conference has shuffled teams in both polls having newcomers into the top five of the Week 12 rankings to account for changes that primarily came within the Division 1 poll.
One of the biggest upsets of the week came last Wednesday when Dodge City fell at Colby to drop just their second game of the season as the Conquistadors loss drops DCCC three spots from number three down to number six which allows for Butler Community College to move up two spots up to number two after blitzing Garden City 90-46 in their only game last week while avenging their lone loss of the season. Dodge City, meanwhile, bounced back from its loss at Colby to take down Coffeyville 94-68 at home, while Hutchinson picked up a home win over Barton, followed by a road win at Cowley to move back up one spot to 19.
Closing in on a 30th straight win, Johnson County had little trouble with the start of the back half of KJCCC play last Saturday as the Cavaliers defeated Highland 108-39 to improve to 25-0 this season and stay atop the NJCAA Division 2 rankings. New to this week’s poll and back in the rankings for the first time since the release of the preseason poll, Neosho County has won seven of eight games since the calendar turned to 2026 to solidify itself as one of the top teams in KJCCC Division 2 while earning this week’s number 25 ranking with a 16-8 overall record.
There will be no shortage of action on Wednesday night this week as 10 games will take place across the conference, highlighted by a top 20 matchup in the Division 1 ranks when number 19 Hutchinson hosts number six Dodge City in a game that could play a key role in the final KJCCC D1 women’s basketball standings. Elsewhere around the conference Wednesday night, both conference leaders Butler and Johnson County will face road tests with the Grizzlies heading to Independence and the Cavaliers facing KCKCC in a cross-metro battle. Saturday’s schedule will feature another eight games, including Johnson County and Hutchinson facing road tests while Dodge City will host Pratt, and Butler will host Seward County.
