The Panther Wrestling team competed in the CMSU Open yesterday and competed hard. Top showings were put in by Donte’ Butler at 125 where he placed 4th going 5-2 on the day. Jason Green was 4-2 at 174 being a match away from placing and Jeremy Lawley at 141 going 3-2 in a tough draw. The next action for the Panthers will be Friday, Nov. 16 at Colby where we will face the #5 ranked Trojans in dual action beginning at 7:00pm and then on to the University of Northern Colorado Open in Greeley, Co on Sunday, Nov. 18.

Comments: We came up with a good showing yesterday facing the likes of Oklahoma State, U. of Missouri, Stanford, OU, U. of Central Oklahoma, Missouri Valley, and Oklahoma City U. to name a few in a big field. Donte’ did real well knocking off the returning NCAA D. II runner up 10-8 in the consolation semi’s. Cross and Lawley did well with very tough draws. As a whole we ended 26-28 on the day and that is good against this caliber of competition and we faced the best in nearly every weight. Some of our other guys are starting to show in the gym what we have seen in the practice room. When we can progress to where everyone is at the level we know they are capable of, we will be solid.
