2025 KJCCC D2 Women's Soccer Players of the Week - Week 8
COLBY, Kan. – Shutout victories for Highland Community College and Johnson County Community College have led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors for Scottie forward Riane Shaffer-Byers and Cavalier goalkeeper Avery Young.
Riane Shaffer-Byers (Highland) – KJCCC D2 Women’s Soccer Player of the Week
Shaffer-Byers scored on both sides of the halftime break against Southeast, helping Highland to a 7-0 win over the Bobcats. For the week, Shaffer-Byers recorded 15 total shots and placed eight on goal, while the two goals now give her five on the season.
Avery Young (Johnson County) – KJCCC D2 Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week
JCCC sophomore goalkeeper Avery Young picked up two more shutouts last week with a 2-0 win at Highland and a 1-0 win at home against Neosho County. Young improved to 14-0-0 on the season. Nationally, Young ranks second in NJCAA Division 2 in save percentage (.949) and fourth in both goals against (3) and goals-against average (0.25).
