Cowley College Goalies Sweep NJCAA Division 1 Soccer Week 5 National Awards
CHARLOTTE, NC – Perfect weeks for the Cowley College women’s and men’s soccer teams included three shutouts coming from the NJCAA Division 1 Soccer Goalies of the Week Julia Suelly and Lukas Lowry as the Tigers have swept the week 5 national honors.
Julia Suelly (Cowley) – NJCAA D1 Women’s Soccer Goalie of the WeekSuelly posted back-to-back shutouts last week, helping Cowley College remain unbeaten this season as the Tigers picked up 2-0 wins over Barton and Dodge City. Against the Cougars, Suelly turned away the only two shots that Barton put on goal, picking up her fourth-straight shutout. The freshman made it five-straight shutouts three days later against Dodge City as her shutout streak now spans nearly 470 minutes dating back to September 10th.
Lukas Lowry (Cowley) – NJCAA D1 Men’s Soccer Goalie of the WeekLowry was solid between the pipes for Cowley last week against two ranked opponents, helping the Tigers go 2-0 in KJCCC play with wins over number nine Barton and number 12 Dodge City. After allowing an own goal to Barton just before halftime, Lowry turned away the only shot on goal in the second half as Cowley came back to earn a 2-1 win in a battle of top 10 teams. Facing his second-straight ranked opponent three days later, Lowry made five saves to post his third shutout of the season as Cowley has allowed a total of two goals in six matches this year.
