2021 KJCCC Volleyball Division I Athletes of the Week, Wk. 5
Offense: Carly Clennan (Butler)
Carly Clennan, sophomore middle blocker from El Dorado, KS, helped lead the Grizzlies to a 5-0 week with three wins over ranked opponents and knocking off the No. 1 team in the nation in Iowa Western. Clennan hit .393 on the week finishing with 43 kills in her 17 sets played from her middle blocker position. Clennan had just six attack errors in her 96 attempts on the week. Clennan averaged a block per set ending the week with 17 blocks. She also served up an ace in the match with Independence. Clennan hs helped lead the Grizzlies to win 37 of their last 39 sets played.

Setter: Nur Yaren Turkmenoglu (Dodge City)
Dodge City put together a stellar week on the court going 3-0 beating Hutchinson for the first time in 11 years, snapping a 23-match losing streak versus the Blue Dragons and followed that up with their first home wins of the season beating Cloud County & Lamar. Nur Yaren Turkmenoglu has been consistently setting up her teammates all season and over the past week her performance allowed many of her teammates to make big impacts. Turkmenoglu against Hutchinson registered 34 assists and added eight digs, a block, and kill. She followed that up with 45 assists against Cloud County and had a double-double with 11 digs, while adding two kills and two aces. Against Lamar she had 26 assists, while chipping in three kills, two blocks, and an ace.

Defense: Jaryn Benning (Butler)
Jaryn Benning, sophomore outside hitter from Topeka, KS, was a dominant force in all categories this past week as Butler pick up five more wins, three over ranked opponents. Benning, who plays right side and is a six rotation player, recorded 20 blocks in the week from her right-side position, an average of 1.2 per set. She also finished the week with 48 digs, just shy of three per set. Benning also recorded 45 kills hitting .245 on the week. On top of all that, Benning had six serving aces on the week, with one of them coming at a crucial time in the win over No. 1-ranked Iowa Western.
