2022 KJCCC Volleyball Division I Athletes of the Week, Wk. 9

Player: Sarah Cruz - Seward County CC
Sarah Cruz provided the Lady Saints with a strong offensive performance last week as Seward County went 4-0 on the week and officially stands alone on top of the KJCCC. Cruz helped the Lady Saints to a 3-1 victory over Butler in the Greenhouse with 15 kills, a .467 hitting percentage, four digs, and three aces. Last week she had a total of 34 kills in 10 sets played, with a .346 hitting percentage on the week. Cruz continues to dominate from the outside hitter position as she averages 3.11 kills per set on the season.

Setter: Rafaela DaSilva - Seward County CC
Rafaela DaSilva guided the Lady Saints to a 4-0 week that included home victories over Dodge City, and Butler to claim sole possession of the first place in the KJCCC. Seward County defeated Butler last Friday 3-1 on dig pink night and DaSilva had 33 assists, four kills, four blocks, and eight digs in the match. DaSilva had her best match versus Dodge City last Wednesday as she provided 35 assists and five digs in the victory. Last week DaSilva averaged 9.76 assists per set, 25 digs, and eight total blocks.

Defense: Clara Lindstrom - Barton CC
Reserve libero Clara Lindstrom filled in exceptionally this week averaging 4.73 digs per set. Playing Wednesday’s match in a limited role, Lindstrom moved into the libero position for the Cougars’ four weekend matches to average 5.25 digs per set. Also the target of 109 services, Lindstrom held her own with a .42 error rate per set.
